Communication Student Spotlight Event
Happening: Starts October 31, 2021
We will get students who are studying communication across the UTSC campus to showcase why they are studying their major, when they finish their studies, and what they like the most about it. Each person who gives a submission has a chance to win some cash prizes. After October 31, we will be showcasing the submission on our social media pages.
MCA Alumni & Student Networking
Happening: November 3, 2021 – 5-7 PM
Here, students will have the opportunity to network with alumni. All of the alumni at the networking event will be working in a communications role such as public relations or brand partnerships. The platform we will use for networking will most likely be Remo, but there will be updates on our social media and website in case the platform changes.
Want to Express? Event
Happening: Starts December 5, 2021
This is a de-stress event to help students alleviate stress & anxiety before exam season. At this event, students have the opportunity to say a piece from their favourite poem, song, or book. Submissions will close on December 5, the submission from will be made available prior to this date.
Unsure still?, Meet Co-op Event
Happening: February 2, 2022 – 5-7 PM
So, you had the opportunity to meet the alumni in our earlier event, but if you’re still feeling unsure about having a career in the communications field, or whether you want to hear from more people about their experiences, then you should come to our event where you have the opportunity to meet other co-op students. These coop students will have or previously had roles that relate to communications. This could be public relations or brand partnerships, but there are so many more. Ace that Virtual Interview Event
Happening: March 16, 2022 – 5-7 PM
We know that having good communication skills is super important in order to have a good interview. This is why our team is creating this workshop where we try to incorporate ways of improving your communication skills in order to impress your employers. At this event, we will have guest speakers from different companies come in and get their advice on exactly what they are looking for in a possible candidate. If you are looking for a chance to put yourself ahead of the competition, this is the best event to attend. Whether you are seeking for your co-op next semester or plan to prepare early for seeking next year, this event is sure to help you prepare.
Ace that virtual Interview
This pandemic has put an immense pressure on students who are looking for co-ops, internships, and other forms of work and our MCA team has seen your effort. But, are you still finding the process of virtual interviews tough? Join us at our first ever event – MCA: Ace That Virtual Interview on March 3rd, 2021 from 6:00-7:10 PM!
This event will give you the insight on acing your virtual interviews and teach you how to apply your in-person communication skills to an online platform. Our special guest and keynote speaker, Kathleen McDowell, Student Development Coordinator at The Department of Management, UTSC will be providing additional insightful advice!
